Team Supreme Products Reign at Cheshire Premier Spring Show!

Lead-rein show hunter pony Jonika Whistles The Wind produced by the Emmerson Show Team claimed the Supreme Champion award with six-year-old Martha Jobling-Purser at Cheshire Premier Spring Show.

The eight-year-old bay gelding made nothing of the blustery conditions at Cheshire Premier showing his impeccable manners and superb conformation, even when Supreme Products team member Sarah Emmerson had to make a quick detour to avoid a paper bag.

Young show rider Martha is in her first full season with her mother’s pony, with the pair winning their RIHS qualifying class and then going Supreme Champion.

Martha is no stranger to the horse world following in the footsteps of her family who all hunt with the Morpeth and her great-aunt Juliet Jobling-Purser was one of the first women to compete at the Olympics. But Martha is the first to have success in the show ring.

In the show hunter ponies it was Alice Greenwood and Greylands Stardust, produced by Team Hollings, who took the championship.

The 143cm mare showed her outstanding quality with a proper gallop in true hunter pony style. Ridden by 15-year-old Alice, they are now in their third season together and have picked up many titles including Blue Riband champion at the BSPS Summer Championships last year.

Royal Windsor success for Team Supreme Products!

Team Supreme Products show riders and producers were out in force at the Royal Windsor Horse Show this year and hitting the headlines with some top performances.

The Stanley Grange showman Simon Charlesworth rode the Carey family’s five-year-old hack Pearly King to victory on his Royal Windsor debut.

The stunning bay produced by Simon and Jerome Harforth led the line throughout and glided around the arena in the Large Hack class.

It was also Simon’s first Windsor win and after once being compared to the legendary showman Count Robert Orrsich, he lifted the championship title which is named in his honour.

Pealy King, a son of Kilvington Scoundrel was bought by Jerome as a foal and then sold to the Carey family as a three-year-old. He competed at just five shows last season – all of which he won.

Also on form was Woodend Matilda ridden by nine-year-old Poppy Carter of Team Katy Carter.

Being the smallest contender in the show hunter pony finale didn’t faze them and the pair took the title. Katy describes Woodend Matilda as a real, proper kid’s pony that anyone could ride.

Robert Walker took the novice lightweight cob section with Chesterton and followed that with the title of overall cob champion.

Winning Debuts For Walker Duo!

The Walker family have had plenty to celebrate this month with wins at North of England, Royal Windsor and Three Counties Spring Festival.

Supreme Products team rider and producer, Robert Walker and Claire Twiston-Davies’s cob, Paddy Power, took top spot in the lightweight cob class at North of England before going on to take the championship securing his RIHS qualification.

Robert and his son Sam celebrated a double win, both riding youngsters on their debuts at Three Counties.

Sam claimed his RIHS ticket with the four-year-old Annandale Phoenix after heading the Lead-Rein of Show Hunter type class.

Said Robert: “Phoenix was only collected just 10 days before the show but he has a fabulous temperament and he knows he is a winner.”

Robert rode Claire Twiston-Davies’s Whalton Forgery, whilst sister-in-law Victoria Hesford is pregnant, and on his debut won the Novice Hack class. The pair then claimed the overall hack tricolour.

Royal Windsor saw Jill Day’s cob Chesterton ridden by Robert win the Novice Lightweight Cob class and then take overall cob Champion in an impressive start to his showing career.

Sue & Fizz win Makeover with Supreme Products and Robert Walker

SUE Wane and her homebred veteran Fizz enjoyed a day learning about all the turnout tips of the showing world from top show rider and producer Robert Walker.

Rob, Fizz & Sue arriving at Rob's yard in Cheshire

As the lucky winner of the Supreme Products competition in Showing World magazine, Sue travelled from Glossop in Derbyshire to Robert’s base in Cheshire for a day to remember.

Fizz, also known as Mirror Image, arrived looking fit and well but once Robert and his team set out on the makeover he was more than ready for a winning performance in the show ring, with Sue looking immaculate as well.

Robert was delighted at the 20-year-old, Cleveland Bay cross Thoroughbred’s condition, commenting that he certainly didn’t look like a veteran.

Said Sue: “It was a brilliant experience and I learned so much from Robert and Sarah.  Fizz looked immaculate when the team had finished and using the Supreme Products Professional Collection really made a huge difference.”

Sue explained that after initially retiring Fizz a few years ago she decided he looked far too well and brought him back in to work to compete in Veteran showing classes.

“My real aim is to try and qualify for the Veteran Championships at Olympia which would be brilliant,” said Sue.

Robert set to work on Fizz, guiding Sue on how to make him really stand out in the ring and use the Supreme Products Professional Collection effectively.

Rob showing Sue how to do Shark's Teeth

After giving Fizz a good brush following his journey, Robert started to explain the finer points of turnout to Sue.

Starting with the tail, Robert trimmed a couple of inches off Fizz’s tail to accentuate his correct limbs and movement.  As the tail was clean he then sprayed in Supreme Products Sparkle to make the tail look shiny and glossy.

Robert then used Supreme Products De Luxe Coat Gloss to help add lustre and shine to Fizz’s coat so that he really gleamed with condition.

The art of quarter marks and sharks teeth was then demonstrated to perfection with Robert making it look easy and the final image proved outstanding with the help of Supreme Products Spray & Shine.

Sarah showed Sue how to enhance his black legs to make them look glossy and shiny using Supreme Products Glistening Oil on a cloth.

Finishing touches were added to the hooves with Supreme Products Black Hoof Paint before Supreme Products Black Matt Makeup, Highlighter Gel brought definition to his eyes and muzzle.

As Fizz’s mane was very thin, the team were careful when it came to plaiting and Robert explained that new Supreme Products Mane & Tail Builder would certainly help.

Once the makeover was complete it was time to tack up and get ready for the ring. Sue looked smart in her showing attire and Sarah pointed out how using a thicker brow and noseband would enhance Fizz’s head and suit him better.

To round off the day Sue was delighted when Robert asked if she would like him to provide a few tips when in the arena.

Watching Sue ride, Robert was impressed with their team work and Fizz’s way of going, just encouraging Sue to ride him forward a bit more in the canter.

Sue will now be aiming to secure her ticket to Olympia with Fizz hoping to compete in the Veteran Championships at the end of the season.

Taking on the Premier League!

We were at Sheepgate Equestrian for the Premier League on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Rubin competed in the Prix St Georges and Intermediare 1, both days he shone beautifully, thanks to Supreme Products High Shine Shampoo and de luxe Coat Gloss and he was very well behaved.

He was a little anxious as it was his first show for a year. His trot work
was special, but his canter work pulled down the marks but he finished in the
top third of both classes.

Vanita was stunning but his changes were a little green so he finished third in the Advanced Medium.

We have let pupil Laura Woodcock take on the ride of Belluga, so she can try for the junior teams. It was a big experience for them both at Sheepgate and they did superbly finishing second.

The next Premier League event is Somerford, so we will be out in force again, hoping that all the horses can improve on their performances and we will have some more good results to report back with!
