Leah and Mac Win Makeover with Team Hollings and Supreme Products

Leah and Mac on arrival

Leah Tolley and her four-year-old Palomino Mac were the lucky winners of a showing makeover with top producers Team Hollings thanks to their sponsor Supreme Products and The Equestrian magazine.

Based in Kidderminster, Leah has owned Mac, or Birchol Macaroon Gold as he is known in the show ring for two years and is excited about the future with the 17.2hh Czechoslavakian warmblood x Trakehner.

Leah, a Finance Manager, is working towards competing in Palomino classes and Sport Horse classes with Mac at County level as they progress.

The day started with Penny Hollings assessing Mac for the suitability of the classes Leah wants to take him in before the makeover got underway with the help of showing manager Stacey Wiseman.

Penny started by using Supreme Products Stain Remover Spray on any stains Mac had acquired overnight while stabled before washing him with Supreme Products Palomino Shampoo.

With the cleaning stage complete Stacey set to pulling Mac’s mane to the correct length and thickness ready for plaiting.

Using Supreme Products Easy Plait, Stacey’s many years and experience of plaiting then came to the fore with an immaculate result that everyone watching admired. Any stray hairs were then smoothed down using SupremeProducts Highlighter Gel.

Still with a lot of developing to do the team discussed how best to present Mac for the ring when it came to quarter marks that would enhance his appearance and it was over to Penny to show her skills.

First spraying on Supreme Products de luxe Coat Gloss to lay and seal the coat, Penny then used NEW Supreme Products Quarter Marking Spray.

Penny explained the difference between quarter marks for Hacks, Riding Horses and Hunter classes and said these would vary depending on the class Leah was entering.

A master class in Sharks Teeth then followed before the final touches were added to make Mac ready for the show ring.

As Mac’s hooves are predominantly white, Stacey used Supreme Products Clear Hoof Paint before adding Supreme Products Highlighter Gloss around his eyes and muzzle.

With his tail now dry and clean, Stacey added Supreme Products Detangle & Shine before brushing through and then sprayed in Supreme Products Sparkle to add body and shine.

With Mac’s transformation complete, Penny advised Leah on her own show clothing and tack, with helpful hints on any ways they could be improved to make the perfect picture in the ring.

Said Leah: “It has been a fantastic day, I couldn’t have asked for more.  As Mac is only four, just bringing him to a new yard and environment has been a great experience and he looks so different to when we started out with his long mane and tail.

“Learning how to get those extra finishing touches has been brilliant and to be given a Supreme Products basket from the Professional Collection was another wonderful surprise.”

Rob bounces Over The Rainbow at Bramham

In true Robert Walker style, he showed once again he is the man to beat and certainly on top form this time at Bramham.

It was Jill Day’s Ballard Bouncer who headed the Lightweight Hunter section before the six-year-old grey gelding Over The Rainbow, also owned by Jill Day, took the top spot in the Middleweight Hunter class.

Robert then rode Over The Rainbow to reign supreme in the overall championship taking the prestigious title.
