Celebrities support The BHS to ‘Draw the Line’ on indiscriminate breeding...

Anthony Andrews, Martin Clunes and Noel Edmunds are just a few of the famous faces that are supporting the BHS campaign to help stop suffering of equines through indiscriminate and careless breeding.

The campaign will encourage horse owners to ‘think before you breed’ and through increased education, awareness and castration programmes ensure fewer poor quality foals are created and subjected to an uncertain, and often unpleasant future.

To fund this work, artists and celebrities have been donating items and one-off experiences for auction on 13 October 2010 at Cheffins of Cambridge.

Donated lots include original artwork from famous equine, canine and countryside artists including John Trickett and Malcolm Coward; one off experiences from famous equestrians and unique drawings and signings from the likes of Jilly Cooper, Katherine Jenkins, Dame Helen Mirram and Sir Paul Mc Cartney.

A Bright Spark for HOYS

Supreme Products sponsored show rider Alexandra Hollings is riding high with Snaafi Bright Spark claiming their ticket for HOYS.

The pair were pulled in top of the line in the HOYS Ridden 138m class at the CHAPS Championships.
Snaafi Bright Spark and Michaela Wood were due to make their HOYS debut two years ago but after a terrible accident leaving Snaafi with severe concussive injuries, could not make the event.

Snaafi was on box-rest for six months and then sidelined for a further year before making his comeback in the showing world.

Now paired with Alexandra, owners Sandra and Martin Wood are over the moon with his progress and his
latest victory.

Said Sandra: “We could hardly believe it; we honestly thought he would never show again. He looked fantastic at CHAPS. All the hard work grooming, mane plaiting and using invaluable products such as the coat shine  from our collection of show ring presentation products paid off. He looked and went like an absolute star. We are so pleased with him."

Hannah's Busy Time at Nationals

Here Supreme Products sponsored dressage rider Hannah Esberger-Shepherd keeps us up to date on her recent trip to the British Dressage National Championships.

Hannah’s Busy Time at Nationals

We went to the British Dressage National Championships on the Thursday so the boys had a chance to acclimatise and have a look round.

I rode them both in the afternoon; Vanita was hot and Belluga was spooky and frightened. The plan was made for Friday’s schedule; both had to be ridden twice before hand.

Friday morning Laura and Whispers were in the Novice restricted and they did very well. Whispers was not at all disturbed with the clapping in the middle of her extended trot, she was so good. They finished in fifth place and we were all very pleased with the pair. They both looked fantastic with their perfectly plaited manes and shiny coats, helped by our invaluable box of grooming products.

Belluga had calmed down and wasn’t as spooky, but Vanita was still hot, it felt like they were washed and dried more times than the pots to keep them cool! The lorry was parked miles away and we were all very tired by the end of the day. We finished the day off nicely with Laura’s parents and a glass of champagne.

Saturday was Vanita’s turn to compete, he was so much better and felt lovely, it was nice to have a good feeling just before the test. He tried so hard to stay with me, and his way of going was really good.

The odd loss of his attention brought a couple of mistakes, and although I knew they would be costly I was very pleased with his progress. I am so excited by him for the future. Later I rode Belluga and I was pleased that he felt even more settled.

Sunday started with an early arena walk with Belluga and we found out we had a good draw in the class. He felt more anxious today as the show became busier.

His test started with a spook at the C judge, but he carried on to settle into a good test. Another loss of attention and another spook placed him down the field, but we were delighted with his way of going and the marks, one judge had him at 70% and another at 69% with errors!

We finished with an overall score of 67.35%. I am now looking forward to pushing him further and competing at higher levels with him.

We reached home on Sunday evening and when all was unloaded and put away, finally my holidays began. I am now looking forward to two weeks away with Jamie and Molly, so we can relax and spend some quality time together!

Meet the Supreme Products Team- Jennifer Boyes

Jennifer works with Supreme Products on our online communications (newsletters, Facebook, blog, Twitter etc). We caught up with her to find a little bit more about what makes her tick!

1. How long have you ridden and what disciplines do you compete in?

I was first thrown up on my grandma’s grey pony ‘Pepé’ when I was two years old and have been hooked ever since. I am a complete showing addict, both in-hand and ridden, although I’m becoming more interested in straight dressage as well.

2. What is your favourite TV programme?

Supernatural

3. Do you have any brothers or sisters?

I have two younger brothers

4. What is your favourite food?

Crème brûlée

5. Where is your favourite holiday destination?

Greece

6. Who is your favourite horse or pony on the yard and why?

I could never choose just one; the other would get very upset! I have two young horses, ‘Trevalda Jazzie Irish’ (Jazz), a rising two year old Irish Sport Horse and ‘Graemar Replique,’ (Katie) a rising two year old part bred Arab. They both have the best personalities and are amazingly well behaved for such babies. I love them to bits.

7. What is your favourite event?

The Ponies UK Summer Champs have always been a favourite of mine. The whole show has such a fun, social atmosphere.

8. What is your favourite item from the Supreme Products Professional Collection?

Supreme Products Sparkle has always been my favourite

9. Do you have a top tip for us?

Supreme Products Sparkle is a great show ring presentation product. It can be used as a final all body show sheen just before you go in the ring. It really makes the coat shimmer and shine, especially on a lovely sunny day.

10. Do you have any family pets?

Not at the moment although I’m hoping to get a puppy next year. For now, I content myself with looking after my dad’s two Ridgebacks, ‘Doudy’ and ‘Nia’ from time to time.

11. What do you feel is your biggest achievement in life so far?

Probably buying my house, with my boyfriend Nick.

12. What music do you currently listen to?

I love Jack Johnson

13. What book are you reading at the minute?

No fiction at the moment but am reading a pile of equestrian books, including ‘Balance in Movement’ by Susanne Von Dietze. I’ve read all of the ones I have before, but love going back and picking up little points I didn’t notice the first time.

14. What was the last film you watched at the cinema?

Inception- it was fantastic!

15. If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

I’d love to be a little less grumpy in the mornings. Not sure it’ll ever happen though….

16. If you could have an hour’s conversation with anyone who would it be and why?

Probably riding pony breeder and in-hand producer, Robert Cockram (now in Australia). He was the master of in-hand showing in the UK for so long, I’d love to get some tips.

17. When you have time to yourself, how do you like to spend it?

Either out walking in the countryside with only the birds for company or in a hot bubble bath with a magazine and a bar of chocolate!

18. If you were given £1million, what would you spend it on?

Oh, lots of horses and a lovely property to keep them on

19. What is the most expensive thing you have ever bought?

My house!

20. If you could be anyone else for the day who would it be?

The Queen- I’d just love to know what it feels like to wake up every morning and think ‘Hmm…I’m the Queen of England’ before going and having your breakfast. I would go and try on all the sparkly crowns and robes as well....

Winning ways for Robert on his return to the show ring.

ROBERT Walker showed he’d lost none of his competitive edge when recording two wins at his first show back after illness.

The Supreme Products team member, was in great form at Moreton-in-Marsh show, making his return a very successful one after three months away from the competition arena.

Riding Yorkie Jobling Purser’s bay gelding, Tank Top, Robert’s first win came in the Maxi Cob class, a wonderful success after a difficult few months.

Having intended to just compete in the one class when they set off for Gloucestershire at 3.30am, Robert’s win encouraged him to ride Jill Day’s Small Hunter, Golden Tasset, a winner the previous week for wife Sarah.

Another red rosette came his way when the four-year-old came out the judges the favourite.

Not to be outdone, and having had an excellent season herself, Sarah rode Lucy Smith-Crallan’s Large Hack, Genevieve to win her class and take the HOYS ticket, rounding off an excellent day for the yard.
